マットレスを選ぶ基準は、自分の体に合っているかが大切

一日の時間の3分の1を睡眠に費やすからこそ、ベッドやマットレス選びは慎重にしたいもの。良いものが欲しいのは当然ですが、高価なものが一概に良いとは限りません。体の大きさや好みも千差万別なので、金額にとらわれず「自分に合った」ベッド選び・マットレス選びが大切です。
マットレスに使われている素材にはボンネルコイル、ポケットコイル、ウレタンマットレスなどがあります。素材によって硬さや弾力性が異なるので、必ず試し寝をして、寝心地を確かめてみましょう。ただ仰向けになるだけではなく、寝返りを打ってみたり、うつ伏せになってみたりしながら、10分程度時間をかけて試すことをおすすめします。
マットレスのサイズは、一人暮らしの場合でも十分に寝返りできるスペースを確保したい人には、セミダブルのベッドが向いています。夫婦など二人で寝る場合はダブルやクイーンが、マットレスの好みの硬さが異なる場合はシングル2台をぴったり並べて使うのもいいでしょう。
ただし、クイーン以上のベッドはそのサイズ上、搬入時に階段や廊下の角を曲がれなかったり、エレベーターに乗せられない場合もあるので、体の大きさや寝る人数、部屋の間取りや大きさによって、適切なサイズを選びましょう。
